A quick make-over on a $2.99 skirt from Goodwill

A quick make-over on a $2.99 skirt from Goodwill

Everyone loves a fashion make-over!  Creating a new style, with something old.

I loved this silk skirt, it is probably the most luxurious feeling fabric I have ever felt.

The skirt was only $2.99 at Goodwill but my daughter isn’t a fan of longer style skirts so we came up with a quick make-over!

Too Cheap Blondes recently shot an upcoming episode with Mirror/Mirror, teaching you how to re-create a “style” with either a magazine article or a Pinterest pin.

We had such a fun time creating this episode at Goodwill River Oaks in Houston, Texas.  They have agreed to put aside all the clothing from this episode and put them out on special rack “As Seen on Mirror/Mirror”.

REISS Dress, a favorite of Kate Middleton, found Thrift Store Shopping with Too Cheap Blondes

While thrift store shopping you can definitely feel a quality fabric, such as this REISS dress, Too Cheap Blondes recently found at Goodwill for only $9.99!

We were not familiar with the brand but we knew we had come across a high end garment.  Imagine our surprise when we found out REISS is a designer that Kate Middleton likes!

#1  This is the OUTLET store, this is not a regular Family Thrift Store.    This is the clearance store for items that did not sell in the Family Thrift Store(s).

#2 Another tip is that if you go to the OUTLET store, disregard the prices on the items. Regardless of what the price tag says, everything in the store is the price of the day ($1.75, $1.50, etc.).   The price tags may be confusing your first time there…just ignore them!

#3 NO Dressing rooms or mirrors.

(HERE is a link for a list of both the regular and the outlet store locations: HERE)

Family Thrift Outlet Stores:

  • Thursday $1.75
  • Friday $1.50
  • Saturday $1.25
  • Sunday $1.00
  • Monday $ .75
  • Tuesday $ .50
  • Wednesday $ .25

Too Cheap Blondes have had a busy month!

I am working on consolidating all my posts to www.TooCheapBlondes.com, so please click on over to that link to read all about our past month (and lots of pictures).

Here is a brief overview:

  • Jen rocked the red carpet for Houston Fashion Week, showing everyone that thrifting can look fabulous for pennies on the dollar!
  • Decorating with thrift store finds and items you already have in your home / Rita Garcia / FOX26
  • We filmed with Patricia Lopez / Stretch your Dollar doing a teacher make-over, we can’t wait to see that segment, it will air in January some time.
  • Family Thrift Outlet Stores, Wednesday .25 day with Patricia Lopez / Stretch your Dollar.
  • Christmas sweater segment, quite silly and fun … with Rita Garcia / FOX26
  • Next Jen graciously hosted a private luncheon and Fashion show by David Peck, at Tootsies!
  • On top of it all Jen sold her house and moved … a major life event but she has been right there for numerous filmings the past few weeks.

We just want to let all of our readers know that we are so thankful that you take time out of your busy schedules to read about our thrifting finds.  Thank you and if you see us in a thrift store please say hello!
