Planning her college dorm room has been so much fun the past few months! Both Maddy and I have spent hours on Pinterest looking for ideas. Of course while thrifting we would pick up things here and there. She decided to go with an eclectic mix of bright, yet subdued mix of colors.
If I would have EVEN tried to buy her a perfect “matching” room I think she would have died … that is soooo NOT COOL in college!
You would not believe how many people stopped by her room to “ooooh and aaahhhh” … they had not really planned on decorating but to do everything for way under a $100 is awesome!
(she just sent me a message, her friends want me to take them shopping to show them how to thrift!)
We found this HUGE corkboard at San Antonio Goodwill! Score for $5.99
(we recovered it with fabric & a staple gun for $8.99)
Call me a dumpster diver … but I found the black table, under the fridge, on the side of the road on garbage day. FREE!
The white dresser was from a builder/model home throwing stuff away … I just happened to be there on the right day!
The pink tulle from local crafting store was only $1.29 a yard .. a HUGE statement for a little bit of money!
Next we found this Brand NEW still in package duvet cover from Bombay Kids, original price $99.99 .. Goodwill price $9.99
LOOK at these awesome “Pottery Barn” lights, brand new still in package we got for $2.99 each @ Goodwill!
Maddy repainted this old sign into something personal for her room!
We got this calendar, really nice and sturdy, in the frame for $3.99! and a glass tumbler to hold markers for .49
I just found this cool Chinese lantern and lamp to take to her next time I visit!
Keep watching …. I will take pictures of our college dorm shopping trip!
As always, thrift with style!
